Gravel means six different things in South Florida. We carry all of them.
Ask for gravel here and you might mean #57 rock for a French drain, pea rock for a pool deck, crushed concrete for a driveway base, or shell rock for a ranch road. All of it is gravel, and all of it is on the truck.
The distinction that matters is washed versus unwashed. Washed stone such as #57, #67 and pea rock has the fines removed, so it drains and will not compact. Unwashed material such as crushed concrete, limerock and shell rock keeps its fines and compacts to a hard surface. Drainage wants the first. Base wants the second.
If you are not sure which one your job needs, the project guides walk through the common cases, or call dispatch and describe what you are building.

Four inches of compacted road base limerock or crushed concrete underneath, then two inches of #57 rock on top. Asphalt millings instead of stone if you want a surface that knits hard.
Washed #57 rock, wrapped in non-woven geotextile. The washing matters because fines migrate down and clog the voids the drain depends on.
Yes. Pea rock, pea gravel and #89 stone all describe the same rounded 3/8 inch material.
